Yesterday I had a late afternoon meeting at the university, which meant a walk down Laisvė Alėja — the main pedestrian street through the center of Kaunas. Like Old Town, Laisvė Alėja is now attired in Christmas decorations. I took photos of the large Christmas tree on my way to the university while it was still light outside. Then I got to see the tree all lit up when I walked home. At this darkest time of the year, there is something special about being bundled up against the cold, hearing the snow crunch underfoot and walking along surrounded by holiday lights.
