Abundance and Prosperity

Kūčiukai are small, poppy seed cookies served as part of the traditional Lithuanian Christmas eve dinner.  Poppy seeds, a popular ingredient in Lithuania, symbolize abundance and prosperity.

And this is my Christmas wish to you all, dear readers.  I wish you abundance and prosperity — not in material things but in love and laughter, friends and family, purposeful work and time to relax.

Unfortunately I couldn’t find an on-line recipe in English for these cookes.  So here are some virtual kūčiukai for you on Christmas Eve…

A virtual handful of poppy seed cookies for you!
