Today’s Activities:
Tea and apple cake at my favorite bookstore cafe with a fellow doctoral student in town from Washington D.C.
The organic market by the Užupis Bridge and an organic shop in Old Town with a colleague from Vancouver, Canada — bread and apple strudel from the Germany baker, fresh raspberries and leeks, and fresh white cheese with carraway seeds.
Sangria in the “castle” restaurant courtyard with a new American acquaintance.
A stop at the Street Art Festival in the park by Baltasis Tiltas (White Bridge) — teenagers, skateboarders, graffiti artists and Lithuanian rappers — ’nuff said .
Lecture at the National Art Gallery by David Crowley, Royal College of Art, London, on the “Present Fate of the Last Generation of Ultra-Modernist Buildings in Eastern Europe” plus a post-lecture gathering at the Neringa Restaurant.
AND I worked for two hours this morning on a conference paper that is the basis of a dissertation chapter.
[We are one step closer to photos on this blog. My camera has arrived in Vilnius, but I haven’t yet been able to get it from my friend.]
